General Information
Admission to the undergraduate degree programmes in Fine Arts, Communication Design, Art Education, Media Art & Design and Product Design is only possible for the winter semester and is based on passing an aptitude test.
The aptitude test is divided into the preselection and the further oral/practical examination.
In the pre-selection, the submitted artistic and creative work samples are used to determine which applicants will be admitted to the further examination.
The oral/practical examination is conducted in the form of an examination discussion on artistic/design-related questions. It focuses in particular on basic questions and contexts as well as on technical problems of pictorial, graphic, media and plastic as well as spatial representation with special consideration of the respective fields of study.

The application for the winter semester (1 October) must have been received by the HBKsaar via the SIM application portal by the preceding 31 May.
Applicants will be informed of the result of the aptitude test in at the end of the test. If the aptitude test is passed, applicants will receive a letter of admission and must then apply for enrolment via the SIM application portal.
